We spent a week out in California visiting with our family (on D’s side). His sister and family lives in San Diego and his brother and family lives in Phoenix Arizona. It had been over 2 years since we last saw all of them, which is really sad if you think about it too much. It was the first time we met Ruby (who is already 20 months and so darling) and the other kids were so much more grown up than last time I saw them. It was crazy and chaotic while being lovely and perfect all at the same time. When you put that many people under a roof it is bound to be crazy. One of the things I love about D’s family is their ability to get deep into conversations in a matter of minutes. The days were crazy filled with activities (the beach, Sea world, deep-sea fishing, paddle boarding) but the nights were filled with long dinner conversations while the kids yelled at the adults “can you please keep it down, we are trying to watch a movie.”
I actually didn’t take that many pictures. Sometimes I just have to put the camera down and enjoy the days. We don’t see each other often, and we were interrupted by kiddos every few minutes, so it was necessary to make the most of each moment. This meant not snapping pictures as often for me. But hopefully what I did take pictures of can help you get an idea of what the week was like.
We had a wonderful time and can’t wait for next time. I just hope we don’t have to wait 2 more years again! Ugh. I hate that they live on the other side of the country. Why couldn’t we live in a smaller country?
